Tomorrow is my husband's birthday. His name is John and we have been married 12 years. He is the funniest person I know. I admit this, even after spending all these years telling him that my wit is sharper. I was voted "Wittiest" in highschool which I've always felt gave me an automatic entitlement to all humor awards. Truth is, he edges me out of any quick-witted competition all the time. What a gift God has given me. God knew that my heart's desire would not be things of the world but things that would erupt from the gut. Is there anything that can make you feel better than a true, barely-make-it-to-the-bathroom belly laugh? That's what John does for me.... just because. It is an ongoing pursuit of his to catch me off guard, in inappropriate circumstances (we sit in the balcony at church for a reason), unexpected places (delivery room with all 3 babies)and during too many serious moments. In the beginning of our couplehood we were an unlikely pair, with polar opposite habits, backgrounds, interests and pursuits, who over these past 12 funny years have developed into an existence where it is difficult to recognize where one begins and the other ends. I am him and he is me. A marital miracle that God specifically put together because it made Him laugh. Happy Birthday, John. You are my joy.
