Everything Is Bigger In Texas

As you read this, I am traveling to the Lone Star State, in somewhat stalker fashion, to hear Beth Moore teach in San Antonio. Between frequent flyer miles and the generous provision of an event ticket from my friend, Wendy, the details of this trip have worked out in a way that only God could have master minded. Emmy secured reservations for hotel rooms and Mandy, drawing the short straw, is my roommate.

I am giddy with anticipation and excitement about hearing a Word from my BFF, Beth. (For clarification, she doesn’t KNOW that I’m her best friend, but I hope to get the chance to inform her, even if I have to shout it at her retrieving back as security guards drag me to the exit.)

I participated in my first Beth Moore bible study about four years ago, which literally changed the way I approached the Bible. Those studies led to other studies, and the next thing I knew, I LOVED digging through Scriptures. It is a passion that still consumes me which all began as a spark presented by a small lady with a big heart and gigantic hair.

(As a side note, I am taking my hot rollers -do you hear me DELTA AIRLINES? HANDLE THEM CAREFULLY - to fix my hair extra big in honor of the woman who pointed me towards the path that would change my life for the better. When I’m at the Alamodome, maybe I’ll even hold up a hot roller high in the air, sort of like I held up my Bic lighter at a Black Crowes concert back in the “black jeans, chunky heels” wearing nineties.)

This girl’s weekend is sure to be saturated with estrogen joy- with crying and hugging and such - but also one with renewed sense of hope and purpose – with crying and hugging and such. (I really am kidding. There’s NO CRYING IN BIBLE STUDY. Get it? Crying in baseball? Never mind.)

My generous husband will be holding down the fort while I’m gone, so for those of you who know me in real life, feel free to throw random vegetables and fruits in my driveway as you pass by our house, especially considering that the last time I was gone, preservative intake reached toxic levels.

Oh, I can’t wait to get a Word.

ROTFL... I love the vision I have of you holding up the hot roller.

I've not used mine in awhile but I'll keep them under the sink incase I ever need to take a trip to Texas.

I think I am going to have awesome abs this weekend from all the laughter. So fun. And I can't wait to really talk to God about what we heard.

JMOM and Laurie-
Thanks for the Sunday School compliments. I will pass them along to John.

He was also in charge of breakfast for the class. White powdered donuts and pecan twirls (the peely kind) apparently were a hit. Loading up your audience on sugar is a sure way to capture attention... : )
